How do I book a storage unit?

What do I need to bring when I move in?

You'll need photo ID (driving licence or passport) and proof of address (utility bill or council tax statement from the last 3 months). We'll handle the paperwork and provide you with your unique access PIN.

How quickly can I get access to a unit?

Subject to availability, we can typically arrange access within 24 hours of booking. For urgent requirements, same-day access may be possible - just give us a call to discuss your needs.

Pricing & Payment

What are your current rates?

Our 20ft containers are £130 per month inclusive of VAT. We offer a special deal: pay for 6 months upfront and receive 2 weeks free storage.

Are there any additional fees?

No hidden charges. Our monthly rate includes weekday and Saturday access, CCTV security monitoring, and standard facility maintenance. Optional extras include moving supplies.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept all major debit and credit cards, bank transfers, and direct debit for ongoing monthly payments. Payment is required in advance each month.

Is there a minimum storage period?

Yes, we require a minimum 4-week rental period. After this, you can give us 1 week's notice to end your storage agreement.

Access & Security

What are your access hours?

Your storage container is accessible from 07:300-19:00 weekdays, and from 08:00-13:00 Saturdays.

How secure is the facility?

Security is our top priority. We provide:

  • 24/7 CCTV monitoring with recording

  • Individual padlocks on every container

  • Regular security patrols

Can I give access to family members or employees?

Yes, you can authorise additional people to access your unit. We'll need their details for security purposes.

Storage Guidelines

What can I store?

You can store most household and business items including:

  • Furniture and home contents

  • Business stock and equipment

  • Seasonal items (garden furniture, Christmas decorations)

  • Documents and archives

  • Clean, dry goods and materials

What items are prohibited?

For safety and legal reasons, we cannot accept:

  • Hazardous materials (chemicals, fuel, paint)

  • Perishable food items

  • Live plants or animals

  • Illegal items or stolen goods

  • Items with strong odours

  • Combustible materials

Do I need insurance?

While we maintain comprehensive site security, we strongly recommend storage insurance for your peace of mind. We can arrange cover, or you may prefer to check if your home/business insurance covers stored items.

Can items be delivered directly to my unit?

Yes, we can accept deliveries on your behalf during office hours. Please arrange this in advance and ensure packages are clearly labelled with your name and unit number.

Container Specifications

What size containers do you offer?

We specialise in 20ft shipping containers, which provide approximately 160 square feet of storage space. Internal dimensions are approximately 6m long × 2.4m wide × 2.6m high.

How much fits in a 20ft container?

A 20ft container typically accommodates:

  • Contents of a 3-4 bedroom house

  • 30-40 archive boxes

  • Large appliances plus furniture

  • Small business stock inventory

  • Small vehicle plus additional items

Are the containers weatherproof?

Absolutely. Our containers are converted shipping containers designed to withstand ocean crossings. They're fully weatherproof with anti-condensation treatments and ventilation to keep your belongings dry and secure.

Can I drive right up to my container?

Yes, our facility is designed for drive-up access. You can park directly in front of your container door, making loading and unloading much easier with no need to carry items long distances.

Where exactly are you located?

Secure Suffolk Storage, Homelands house, Ashbocking Road, Ipswich, IP6 9LJ.

We're easily accessible from Ipswich, Bury St Edmunds, and surrounding Suffolk villages.

Do you sell packing materials?

We can supply moving boxes, bubble wrap, tape, and other packing materials. Contact us for current prices and availability.

Can I view the facility before booking?

Of course! We encourage prospective customers to visit and see our security measures and container quality. Please call ahead to arrange a convenient time.

What if I need to end my storage early?

Simply give us 1 week's written notice (email is fine) and we'll arrange for you to clear your container. Any prepaid rent will be refunded on a pro-rata basis.

Absolutely. Many of our customers are local trades, online retailers, and small businesses who need secure, accessible storage for stock, equipment, or archives.

Can I register your address for business deliveries?

Yes, we can accept business deliveries during office hours. This service is particularly popular with e-commerce businesses managing stock levels.
